Hi. My name is Karen Wilkins and I am a counsellor dedicated to helping people who are experiencing some form of crisis in their lives. I have an honours degree and a Professional Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling and am committed to ongoing professional development.
I am also a qualified teacher and an experienced Lecturer in Counselling Skills.
Life is a journey
I believe that life is a journey and it’s not the ‘getting there’ that matters, but the life experiences you have along the way – for good and bad – and how you deal with those experiences.
It’s about the quality of life; about being, not doing…
My concern is to help people help themselves, it doesn’t matter how many times someone tells you something, ultimately you have to discover a way forward by yourself, that works for you.
My aim is to help you to discover and utilise your own inner resources to get you through whatever crisis you are currently experiencing. Low self-esteem, relationship problems, anger issues, negative thinking, destructive patterns of behaviour, addiction and self-loathing are just some of the things that spring to mind.
I can’t be with you 24/7, but I aim to empower you, increasing your self-awareness and being a supportive presence alongside you, for this stage of the journey along your life’s path.
I tailor my counselling to each individual client, so as to be of most help to each person. I welcome men and women from differing social, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, of different sexual orientations, abilities, ages and gender.
I have full professional indemnity insurance and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, which means I am bound by its Ethical Framework and subject to the Conduct Procedure therein.
